Coach André Jardine announced this Thursday, 17, the squad's squad for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. 18 athletes were called, who will try the bi in Japan.
Important names like Neymar and Weverton, who are playing in the Copa America, were left out. But Pedro was called, despite Flamengo saying they don't want to release the player.
Two players who are playing in the Copa America, only Douglas Luiz was called up.
One surprise on the list was veteran Daniel Alves, São Paulo, among the three players over 24 years old. The other two are goalkeeper Santos and defender Diego Carlos.
The team presents itself on July 1st, with a training period at the CT of Palmeiras, and travels to Qatar on July 8th. On July 15, the delegation finally leaves for Japan.
Brazil is in Group D of the tournament, with Germany, Ivory Coast and Saudi Arabia. The team's debut will be against the Germans, opponents of the 2016 Olympic final, won by Brazil. The game is scheduled for July 22, at the Yokohama National Stadium, coincidentally the same stage as the 2002 World Cup decision, when the Brazilians won the penta over the same Germany.
The same stadium in Yokohama will host on the 25th the duel between Brazil and Côte d'Ivoire. The team ends its participation in the first phase against Saudi Arabia, on the 28th, at Saitama Stadium.
