The news brought hope to many people facing breast cancer. May more good news come!
A group of Italian researchers at the Emilia-Romagna Cancer Institute was responsible for developing a molecule that can block breast cancer metastasis.
The new nanotechnological molecule developed in the laboratory is equipped with an anti-cancer drug and an antibody. For its creation, scientists used biomedical engineering techniques.
In a tumor microenvironment, the molecule can allow the treatment of the tumor, interrupting its growth.
"We are confident that this new nanotechnological product will bring concrete therapeutic benefits in the future," said Dr. Toni Ibrahim, director of the institutes responsible for the studies that came up with the creation of the molecule.
"The objective that we propose today is to verify the pharmacological capacity and the results obtained in the pre-clinical phase also in the patient, in order to translate them as soon as possible, in the treatment pathways", he added.
Even though further studies are still needed with the new molecule developed by Italian scientists, the news does not fail to bring hope to many people facing breast cancer.
